63 Women Perish Daily, Gaza’s Daughters on International Women’s Day
Share on FacebookShare on Twitter

In the shadow of the world’s bustling celebrations for International Women’s Day, there exists a corner of the globe where the jubilation is eclipsed by the deafening silence of loss and hardship.

In the heart of the Gaza Strip, where every dawn brings with it the haunting specter of loss, women bear the brunt of unfathomable suffering due the Israeli war on Gaza.

The daily toll of tragedy is etched in stone: 63 women, each a beacon of hope and strength, are extinguished from existence, their voices silenced by the relentless storm of Israeli violence and oppression.

Among them, 37 are mothers, torn from the embrace of their families, leaving behind shattered hearts and shattered dreams.

Palestinian women in Gaza find themselves at the epicenter of a humanitarian catastrophe, enduring the horrors of murder, displacement, arrest, abortion, epidemics, and starvation as a consequence of Israeli aggression.

The brutality of Israeli occupation has claimed the lives of approximately 9,000 women in the Gaza Strip, including countless mothers, pregnant women, and healthcare workers. These losses reverberate throughout society, leaving behind shattered families and communities grappling with grief and trauma.

Despite facing such harrowing circumstances, the women of Gaza exhibit remarkable resilience and courage. They navigate daily existence amidst scarcity and uncertainty, striving to provide for their families and maintain a semblance of normalcy amid chaos. Their unwavering determination to persevere in the face of adversity is a testament to their strength and fortitude.

However, the challenges women in Gaza face extend beyond the immediate threats of conflict. They also struggle to access basic necessities and essential services, further exacerbating their plight. Meeting their own needs, as well as those of their families, becomes a constant battle in an environment plagued by scarcity and insecurity.

Moreover, women in Gaza often have specific needs that go unmet amidst the chaos of war. From healthcare to education to economic opportunities, they encounter numerous barriers that limit their ability to thrive and fulfill their potential.

Despite these obstacles, they continue to advocate for their rights and strive to create better futures for themselves and their children.
