DaysofPal- Five workers protecting and escorting aid trucks were killed Monday night in an Israeli drone strike in Deir al-Balah City, central Gaza, in a tragic uptick in violence.
The attack targeted a car carrying workers close to the al-Awda factory on Salahuddin Street, according to local and media sources. The strike killed five workers and injured several others nearby.
This incident marks the second fatal attack on humanitarian aid workers in less than 24 hours. On Sunday evening, an Israeli airstrike in the al-Mawasi area of western Rafah, southern Gaza, killed five aid workers and injured about 30 civilians who were waiting for aid delivery.
Monday’s violence extended beyond Deir al-Balah. The Israeli army carried out several airstrikes and shelling operations across Gaza, killing at least 14 Palestinians and injuring dozens. Among those killed were five guards escorting aid trucks in western Rafah, with over 20 others injured, according to medical sources.
Whereas in the Gaza Strip, Israeli forces carried out several airstrikes and shelling operations, killing many people and causing widespread devastation.
A medical source reported that two Palestinians were killed in an airstrike targeting a car in western Khan Younis City. Meanwhile, the Al-Awda Hospital in the central Gaza Strip received the bodies of four Palestinians and 12 injured individuals after an airstrike on the northern area of the Nuseirat refugee camp.
Tragically, another Palestinian was killed by Israeli fire inside a school that had been sheltering displaced families in the western part of the Nuseirat camp.
In eastern Gaza City, an airstrike on a residential home resulted in the death of one Palestinian and injuries to several others. In the northern Gaza Strip, a similar attack in the Jabalia Nazla area killed one person and left another wounded. Eyewitnesses reported that the Israeli army has continued to target critical infrastructure, including the Kamal Adwan Hospital and its surroundings, while also detonating buildings in Beit Lahia and Jabalia.
Since the onset of the Israeli military campaign in October, the toll on Palestinian civilians and aid workers has been staggering. Palestinian figures indicate that over 720 police officers and security personnel assigned to guard aid trucks have been killed during this period. The destruction and loss of life have compounded the already dire humanitarian crisis in Gaza, where residents depend on the limited and precarious delivery of aid for survival.
