New figures from the Palestinian Football Association reveal a sharp rise in the number of football-related deaths in Gaza as Israel’s war on the enclave continues.
Since the assault began on October 7, 2023, at least 325 people connected to Palestinian football have been killed, including players, coaches, referees, administrators, and club board members.
The data shows that most of the victims were between the ages of 6 and 20, followed by those aged 20 to 30.
In the past 72 hours alone, three footballers were killed in separate incidents while waiting for humanitarian aid: Palestinian national team star and Shabab Al-Shati player Suleiman Al-Obeid, Itihad Deir Al-Balah’s Nasrallah Al-Muqati, and Khadamat Al-Nuseirat’s Moath Al-Hawajri.
