On May 17, at approximately 6:45 pm , the IOF targeted, without prior warning, the last three floors of the six-story Ghazi Shawa building. Members of the Abu Dayer family were eating in a garden nearby at the time of the attacks. Shrapnel and rubble from the air raid struck the feasting family, killing two members of the Abu Dyer family and injuring 10 others. Rafif Murshed Kamel Abu Dyer, a 10-year-old girl, and her uncle Ziad Kamel Abdullah Abu Dayer, 54.

Muhammad Abu Dayer, Ziad’s son and a survivor of the attack, tells in this video the tragic story of his father murder by Israeli occupation warcrafts.
Ziad and his family had actually taken shelter there. The family’s own home had been razed during the previous day’s disaster, so they went to stay with relatives living in the Ghazi al-Shawa building.
