On Sunday May 26th, 2024, the Government Media Office in Gaza has just released an update of the humanitairian situation in the Gaza enclave amid concerns following the collapse of parts of thr floating pier envisioned by America off Gaza coast.
Egyptian media said 200 humanitarian aid trucks set off from Rafah crossing towards Kerem Abu Salem crossing in preparation for entering the Gaza Strip, including quantities of food aid, in addition to four trucks carrying fuel.
The trucks, which will be handed over to the United Nations on the Palestinian side, will carry between 15 to 20 tons of aid per truck, the Egyptian source added.
Gaza media office clarified the humanitarian aid entering the Gaza enclave is completely insufficient for fulfilling the needs of Gazans in light of the looming food crisis resulted as the Israeli occupation has continued to deliberately destroy all life facilities in the enclave since the beginning of the aggression on October 7.
“The quantities of fuel that enter the Gaza Strip are insufficient to operate even one hospital,” the office revealed.
As the news came out yesterday showing the collapse of parts of the floating pier, the office said international community has proven its complete inability to force the occupation to stop the Israeli aggression neither been able to reach adequate food aid.
The spokesperson of Gaza’s media office warned that the specter of famine will again haunt people of the northern Gaza Strip in light of the lack of food supplies.
The closure of Rafah crossing has further worsened the health conditions of over 20,000 patients who are currently eager to hear the news of reopening the Rafah crossing as to exit from Gaza for essential medical treatment, according to a statement released by the Health Ministry on Saturday.
“There are more than 80,000 wounded, a third of whom are in urgent need of treatment that is not available within the Gaza Strip,” according to the media office.
