Head of Hamas’s political bureau Ismail Haneyya on Tuesday phoned president-elect of Iran Ibrahim Raisi and congratulated him on his election as president of the Islamic Republic.
During the phone conversation, Haneyya reiterated the strength of the relationship between his Movement and Iran and described it as “solid and stable,” according to a statement released by the Hamas Movement.
The Hamas political chief outlined the achievements made by the Palestinian resistance during the Sword of Jerusalem Battle, affirming it was a victory for the Palestinian people, their resistance and the Islamic nation.
For his part, president Raisi expressed his appreciation for Haneyya’s phone call and described his country’s relation with the Palestinian people and their resistance as “unwavering and strategic.”
The president congratulated Hamas on the victory made by the resistance and its people during the Sword of Jerusalem Battle, and said that the last battle against the Israeli occupation ushered in a new page of resistance against the occupation and vindicated further the importance of resistance as a strategic option to solve the Palestinian question.
He also denounced the ongoing Israeli siege on Gaza as a violation of international law, stressing the need to end the blockade.
