Days of Palestine - Ramallah
The Commission for Detainees and Ex-Prisoners Affairs said that medical negligence against Palestinian prisoners is one of the violations followed by the Israeli prison administration.
Israel continues to violate Palestinian prisoner's rights guaranteed under international conventions and covenants related to their rights to receive the necessary treatment and medical care.
In a statement, the Commission touched on a group of sick cases of several prisoners in the Israeli detention, including the prisoner Nidal Zalloum, 57, from Ramallah, who is in "Eshel" prison; he complains about the delay in providing him with the necessary treatment and a quick diagnosis of his health condition in the clinic.
Zalloum suffers from high blood pressure, diabetes, and persistent dizziness, the Commission affirmed.
The prisoner Zalloum is one of the old prisoners who spent approximately 32 years in Israeli prisons and sentenced to two life sentences and 35 years.
The prisoner Muhammad Ta'amra from Jenin, who is in the "Raymond" prison, also complains of pressure diseases, high blood cholesterol, and acidity in the stomach. He needs a quick follow-up to his health status.
The prisoner Farij Abu Zaher (28 years) from Gaza is currently in Nafha prison. He suffers from a disease called "Philosophy," which causes him to have excessive electrical charges and convulsions that recently led to him falling from the bed and injuring him, which made his health condition more difficult besides his psychological distress.
The Commission held the Israeli prison administration fully responsible for the continuing medical neglect against the Palestinian prisoners and called on international human rights institutions and the Red Cross to act their critical role towards the Palestinian prisoners' issue to the fullest.
