Ministry of Prisoners: 4,300 prisoners being held in Israeli prisons

The Ministry of Prisoners and Ex-Prisoners confirmed on Wednesday that the number of prisoners in the Israeli prisons reached 4,300 prisoners by the end of November 2020.

The Ministry of Prisoners announced in a press release today, Wednesday, that 543 prisoners are sentenced to life imprisonment, and 53 prisoners have been detained for more than 20 years in the occupation prisons, in addition to 540 administrative prisoners.

It stated that the number of female detainees in the occupation prisons reached 35 in Damoon Prison.

The Ministry stated that the number of child prisoners in the occupation prisons reached 170, a child under the age of 18, indicating that the number of children arrested since the beginning of 2020 reached 400 children in three Israeli prisons (Ofer - Megiddo - Damoon).

Concerning the sick prisoners in the occupation prisons, the ministry explained that their number reached 700, of whom 10 had cancer, and the rest had chronic diseases.
