Four Palestinian detainees continue on, Monday, 15th, 2022, their open hunger strike in protest of their continued detention, including three administrative detainees, the most senior of whom is Khalil Awawda (40 years), from the town of Ithna.

Awawdeh who has been on strike for 156 days, rejecting his administrative detention, amid Critical health conditions he faces in the Israeli “Asaf Harofeh” hospital. Today, the military court in Ofer is supposed to issue a decision on an appeal against the decision to confirm his second four-month administrative detention order.

The two detained brothers, Ahmed and Adal Hussein Musa from the town of Al-Khader, have also continued their hunger strike for nine days from the date of their arrest on August 7, 2022, in refusal of their administrative detention. Equivalent to three months.

The Prisoners Club clarified that the detainee Ahmed, aged 44, a former prisoner, had carried out a hunger strike in 2019 that lasted for 29 months, and ended with an agreement to release him, a patient suffering from severe heart problems and who underwent several surgeries. Over the past years, he is married and the father of seven children.

Adal (34 years) is a former prisoner who spent about seven years in the occupation prisons, five of them continuously. He is married and the father of two children.

Sheikh Yusef El-Baz (64 years), from Lod in the 1948 lands, continues his hunger strike, in refusal to continue his arbitrary detention for the fifth consecutive day, in the Israeli “Soroka” hospital, where he was transferred last Friday from “Raymond” prison, due to the deterioration of his health condition.

Sheikh Al-Baz had escalated his strike by abstaining from water, and he is a heart patient, and according to his lawyer Khaled Zabarka, who was able to visit him yesterday, he confirmed that he is receiving the medicine intravenously.

It is noteworthy that the Israeli occupation and its intelligence kept the arrest of Sheikh Al-Baz, despite a previous court decision to release him, and accordingly, he began a hunger strike. He is married and the father of six children. He is the imam of the Grand Mosque of Lod.
