The Palestinian Prisoner Club said that the Israeli administration of "Ofer" prison procrastinated in responding to the prisoners ’demands, most notably to stop the systematic searches and repression against them, and to provide them with the basic daily needs.
The Prisoner Club indicated that the sections in which prisoners of "Ofer" prison are housed are witnessing a state of overcrowding and a lack of basic needs, as more detainees are placed inside the departments, as the prison administration refuses to provide their basic needs.
It noted that, and in light of the developments that are taking place, a new session will be held today between the prisoners and the prison administration again and based on its results, the prisoners' decision to resume their protest steps will be determined.
The Prisoner's Club stated in a statement today, Thursday, that the prisoners in "Ofer" prison, since February 14, had begun a series of protest steps, including the return of meals; At that time, and after several sessions with the administration and from all the factions, they received promises to respond to their demands, but to this day it has been stalling in their implementation.
The Club continued, that since the beginning of this year, about 900 prisoners in Ofer prison have faced incursions, and extensive and repeated searches, the most violent of which took place on the sixth of last January.
The occupation prison administration pursues repeated repression and searches to abuse prisoners, impose more control and oversight on them, and strike any "stability" situation within the departments.
It is noteworthy that the Israeli occupation prisons administration has escalated the repression since the beginning of 2019, compared to previous years, and the repression at the time was the most violent in more than ten years among the prisons in which the prisoners were subjected to the most severe repression was the Ofer prison, during which dozens of prisoners were wounded.
