Days of Palestine – Jerusalem
The UN Human Rights Office in Palestine (OHCHR) said last night it was shocked by the extra-judicial execution of Mohammad Shawkat Slimah by the Israeli occupation forces at Damascus Gate in occupied Jerusalem a few hours earlier.
A video that went viral on social media showed Israeli police officers shooting directly at Slimah at point-blank range until his death.

While on the ground and injured, the Israeli occupation police officers shot Slimah twice, killing him in a few minutes. Medics were denied access to the scene to provide him with first aid before he was announced dead.
“Extra-judicial killings such as this are the consequence of the regular resort to lethal force by well-armed and well-protected Israeli security personnel against Palestinians, and the almost total lack of accountability for killings and injuries of Palestinians by Israeli forces,” read an OHCHR statement.
“Will there be accountability in this case? The UN Human Rights Office is monitoring the case further.”
