“The practical apology to the Palestinian people over the shameful Balfour Declaration is when Palestinian refugees return to their homes and areas from which they were expelled, receive support for their right to freedom and independence, and are compensated for what has happened to them,” Hamas movement said.
Hamas stated in a statement commemorating the 104th anniversary of the Balfour Declaration that the right of Palestinian refugees to return to their country and homes is an “inalienable legitimate and legal right” guaranteed by international and UN law that cannot be renounced or bargained away.
“All means of struggle, whether popular or armed resistance, will remain a viable alternative that has proven its viability on the ground, and they will not be abandoned until the Palestinian people reclaim their usurped rights and evict the occupation from their country,” the statement said.
“It has been 104 years since Balfour committed his crime by promising the Zionists a homeland in Palestine, a territory to which he has no right or place,” Hamas stated. “Since then, the Palestinian people have suffered from displacement, land theft, death, and incarceration.”
