The Israeli occupation’s prohibition of importing sacrificial animals to Gaza on Eid Al-Adha holiday reveals the criminal policies of the Israeli occupation and the U.S. administration’s support for genocide, depriving Palestinian people from celebrating Eid Al-Adha, government media office said in a statement.
It added that the Israeli occupation persists in its crimes by preventing the entry of sacrificial animals into Gaza, closing all crossings, including Rafah border crossing and Kerem Shalom crossing, during Eid al-Adha.
This clear violation of human rights and utter disregard for humanitarian and Islamic values demonstrates and ads to the ongoing series of crimes and oppressive siege imposed on Gaza for 18 years, causing unprecedented humanitarian crisis among over 2.4 million Palestinian civilians and displaced persons.
“Sacrificial animals are an integral part of the religious rituals and acts of worship Muslims observe during Eid al-Adha. The prevention of their entry into Gaza represents a blatant disregard for basic Islamic and humanitarian values and human rights,” the statement reads.
The office explained that the moral and legal responsibility falls on the international community to intervene decisively and halt the genocide and stop this flagrant violation of Muslim and human rights.
Hundreds of thousands of families in Gaza are deprived of celebrating Eid al-Adha and offering sacrifices as part of their religious rituals, exacerbating their agony amid economic hardships and consequences of the genocide.
“We vehemently condemn the Israeli occupation’s decision to prevent access to sacrificial animals into Gaza, and we consider it part of the genocide and unjust siege aimed at tightening the grip on Gaza’s residents and depriving them of their basic rights, including the right to celebrate religious rituals,” the office further added.
“We call on the international community, the United Nations, various international organizations, and all free countries to exert pressure on the Israeli occupation and the U.S. administration to halt the genocide, open crossings, and revoke this inhumane decision. Furthermore, we demand intensified efforts to lift the siege on Gaza and provide urgent assistance.”
